Inner City Helping Homeless are asking for the public's help in filling a Luas with gifts this Christmas.
Dublin homeless charity calling on public's help in filling a Luas with gifts for Christmas
Fill A Luas asks the public to donate a shoebox of gifts to the homeless at Connolly Luas Stop on Thursday, December 6. This is the fourth year of the charity event.
This year, Fill A Luas will be a week-long event to give people more time to donate a shoebox over the holidays with the aim of collecting more than the record of 20,000 shoeboxes.
The public can drop shoeboxes to the Luas depots in Red Cow and Broombridge between 9am and 5pm from Monday, December 3 to Friday, December 7.
ICHH Head of Communications Brian McLoughlin said: “The growth of the event year on year has been incredible as the public show their support by donating Christmas shoeboxes on the day to help us Fill a Luas.
"We will also have a number of events on site all day to support our homeless friends and make the day as special as possible for them.
"Our previous record is 20,000 shoeboxes donated on the day so we will be going all out to beat this figure on what is a feel good family friendly event. With nearly 4,000 children facing Christmas in emergency accommodation we will also have a Santa’s grotto for the children to enjoy.
"We are asking the public to once again show their support for the event by coming along to Connolly Station from 7am to 7pm to help us make the event as magical as possible for the people experiencing homelessness and thanks to our partners at Transdev for their fantastic ongoing support.”
