Gardai arrest 5 people in major North Dublin Christmas Day illegal scrambler sting
Officers seized 11 motorbikes and two cars as part of the operation in Cabra and Finglas, where in recent years locals have been plagued by people illegally driving scrambler bikes, quads and mopeds on the roads.
Two of the bikes turned out to be stolen and Gardai are reviewing CCTV footage and carrying out technical examinations in the coming days as part of the investigation.
The 'signficant' Garda operation kicked off several weeks ago with community policing officers calling to schools and parents warning about the dangers associated with this activity.
Leaflets were also produced and distributed to discourage parents from buying these vehicles and young people from using them.
Yesterday's operation involved members attached to regular policing units, DDU, specialist units and divisional and regional traffic.
