Bridging the gap between the highly successful Despicable Me 2 and the third film of the franchise, slated for release in 2017, is the much anticipated spin-off Minions. The Minions, we learn, have been around since the dawn of time, serving numerous historical tyrants. In 1968, Kevin, Bob and Stuart make their way to a super-villain convention in search of a new master. There they find Scarlett Overkill (Sandra Bullock) and husband Herb (Jon Hamm) and join their plot to overthrow the Queen of England. The Minions offer up plenty of skit-based weirdness but, as expected, building an entire narrative around these formerly supporting characters is a bit of a stretch.
