Man killed after he was hunting down in a car in Tallaght

A man was killed as a result of an attack by a band of men where he was run over by a car in Dublin.

On Thursday at around 7pm the 30 years old man, his name was Stephen Lynch (see photo), was attacked in Brookview Close in Tallaght.

The 32-year-old Stephen, who was an electrician by profession, was not known to Gardai and had no involvement in crime.

A passer-by is understood to have tried to run to his aid and get him from under the vehicle but it was too late.

It is believed that the dead man was killed following a row with a group of bandits before the argument escalated and he was hit by a car.

It is suggested that locals rushed to the aid of the man before the ambulance arrived, but the man was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardai believe the man was deliberately ran over.

The silver Ford Focus what is supposed to have hit the victim was left at the place of the accident, and two men were seen running away from the area on foot.

No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.

The scene has been preserved. Gardai in Tallaght should have hold a media briefing in relation to the incident.
