Wetherspoon pub has got green light

Despite fears of local people, that the pub will play negative role in growing alcohol consumption tendency at Camden Street, appeal commission has given the planning permission for the €4m building at Camden Hall, which also includes a hotel with 98 bedrooms.

Barry Chambers, a local man, who was against pub`s development, told An Bord Pleanála that allowing to build another pub in that area was a bad idea, because invitation for increasing drinking will have pernicious impact on residential area.

Mr. Chambers noted, that many young families live in this area and hopefully the situation here will not be as at Temple Bar area, which is known for pubs` overconcentration and as the result – late night drinking.

Wetherspoon conveyed that it is not meant to be a place for late-night visits, especially at the weekends. It will be more focused on food service with additional drinks service and there will be no loud music.

It was stated by the pub firm, that there was no over concentration of pubs in that area.
