An increase in footfall is one of the reasons being cited for the increase of CCTV in the area, with cameras set to be installed in the coming months.
Gardai at Pearse Street confirmed they are modernising communications and incident management systems in response to a request from Dublin City Council.
The statement said: "Gardai at Pearse Street carried out a review of the public CCTV system during 2016 to take into account and reflect the change in dynamics and usage of areas of the district.
"Montague Street and the wider area of Harcourt Street and Camden Street was identified as an area which would benefit from greater CCTV coverage, particularly in light of the significant increase in night-time economy in the area.
"The additional CCTV cameras in this area will be a joint approach between An Garda Siochana, Dublin City Council and possibly local business interests."
