Revenue Officers at Dublin Port seized beer, vodka and cigarettes with a retail value of around €3,800 when they stopped and searched a truck carrying mixed goods from Poland on Friday.
The delivery was destined for various locations across the country but it was stopped in its tracks when Revenue discovered the contraband hidden in compartments under the truck, which had arrived in Dublin Port via Holyhead.
Two Polish men aged in their 30s were questioned and investigations are ongoing.
The seized goods represent a potential loss to the Exchequer of around €2,900 and are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the illegal importation, supply and sale of tobacco products and alcohol in the shadow economy.
