The tourists will now have to stay here until they get their new documentsA US couple were robbed of their passports while sightseeing in Kilmainham Gaol last weekend.
Lorelai Tong and Wei Shen from San Francisco said they had a "lovely few days" travelling around Ireland until the day before they were due to leave, when their possessions and passports were taken.
The car they had rented for their trip was broken into while they were taking a tour of the famous former prison.
Speaking to the sun.ie, Lorelai Tong said: "We were due to be going home on a flight on May 7, so on May 6, it was a Saturday, at some time between 11am and 1pm we were touring Kilmainham Gaol.
"When we came back to the car I saw the broken window on the left side and broken glass on the ground."
The couple will now have to stay in Dublin until new documents can be made from them.
