A generous young girl who recently celebrated her communion decided to use the money she made to buy supplies for the homeless.
Lexie Delaney, who has donated in the past to Inner City Helping Homeless, told parents Derek and Lillian that she wanted to spend the cash on helping those in need.
ICHH posted a thank you message on its Facebook page yesterday.
It said: “A huge thank you to Lexie Delaney who used some of her communion money to help the homeless and support #ICHH by buying food to donate to us.
“This is not the first time Lexie has donated to ICHH and her parents Lillian & Derek should be extremely proud of her.
#ICHH have seen our stock levels drop massively over the past number of weeks due to increased numbers being presented to our outreach teams nightly so Lexie’s donation couldn’t have come at a better time, so again thank you Lexie from everyone at ICHH.
“If you would like to help us boost our stock levels by doing a food or clothing appeal for us please get in touch via email on [email protected] or you can call us on 01-8881804.”
Brian McLoughlin from ICHH said: “As a volunteer run, non government funded organisation we rely on the donations of the public as well as corporate charity partners but to see a girl that is so young having the social awareness and compassion for others that she has is inspiring.”
Mr McLoughlin added that the items Lexie donated will be distributed to rough sleepers around the city by outreach teams.
