A syndicate of workers at a swimming pool are in buoyant form after collecting a Lotto prize worth €47,692 today.
The 47-strong group, from Graiguecullen Swimming Pool in Co Carlow, are set to splash out on a few treats after matching five and the bonus on May 17.
The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold on the day of the draw at Callinans Day Today store in Graiguecullen.
Syndicate leader Diane Hogan said there was great excitement in the job after they heard the news.
She said: “There was great excitement in Graiguecullen Town after Wednesday night’s Lotto draw.
“The word went around the community that a big Lotto prize had been won in the local shop so there was a bit of panic to make sure the tickets were checked.
Diane added: “Managing a Lotto syndicate of 47 members is a lot of work but it made it all the sweeter when we had to ring around to tell them all the good news.”
“It’s a great way to have a lottery win, as a syndicate. We are the best of friends and I’m sure we will throw a party to celebrate over the weekend.”
