Gardai probe 'serious assault' after attack on woman in Irishtown

Gardai have launched an investigation into a "serious assault" on a woman in Dublin 4.

Gardai in Irishtown are investigating an alleged incident which happened in Irishtown in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

It is understood a woman was walking home when she was attacked on Church Avenue at 1:30am.

The Irish Independent reports the woman was hospitalised following an alleged sexual assault.

A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "We are investigating a serious assault on a woman on Church Avenue, Irishtown at 1.30 am on Tuesday 30th May."

It is reported there have been no arrests in the case which is being investigated by Irishtown Gardai.The woman's age has not been revealed.
