The incident occurred on Mountjoy Street at 8.45am.

It is understood that the man entered and crashed the ambulance.

He was restrained by crew until gardai arrived to the scene

The man was arrested and brought to Mountjoy Garda station where he was charged.

A garda spokesperson said: "A man in his late teens was arrested following an unauthorised taking of a vehicle.

"He was taken to Mountjoy Garda Station where he was charged under the Road Traffic Act and later released."
