Cost of Dublin Mountains Project slashed by €4 million

Despite the drop in cost, the plan is still in line with the original proposal that was presented to the public.

The projected cost of the Dublin Mountains Project has been cut by €4 million, councillors were told today at the meeting of South Dublin County Council.

A presentation from the architects of the project was given to councillors at the start of the meeting, with discussion about the plans continuing for over 90 minutes.

The projected cost of the project is now €15 million, down from the original projected cost of €19 million.

Despite the drop in cost, the plan is still in line with the original proposal that was presented to the public.

An updated timeline has also been put forward, with the proposal set to go to An Bord Pleanala next month. It's hoped permission will be granted by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed that a shuttle bus for the public will run from Tallaght Stadium up to the Hellfire Club, and it will go every 15 minutes.

The council also said the only commercial aspect of the development will be the restaurant and café.

Concerns about the traffic volume at the project were also addressed, with the architects confirming that traffic levels are not extreme and any alleviation methods that are needed are addressed within the current plans.

The final project is expected to be completed by June 2019 and opened to the public.
