Woman devastated after wedding ring was stolen from car in Phoenix Park

A woman has been left devastated after her wedding ring was stolen from her car in Phoenix Park.

Jane Deering went for a run in the park with her friend at around 4pm yesterday.

The two school teachers parked the car near the Fifteen Acres, locking their bags in the boot.

When they arrived back 40-minutes later, the left hand side window was smashed and their bags were gone.

Jane's bag contained a green wallet with her wedding and engagement rings inside.

Jane told the Ray D'Arcy show of the harrowing ordeal.

She said: "They (the rings) were very well hidden. I do panic sometimes asking myself if I put them in there because they get wedged in the corner.

"It's a little zippy part with a few coins in it. You'd have to go looking for them.

"It's only a little cheap wallet, it's not expensive at all.

"I know this sounds crazy but I'm still convinced that they're in the wallet somewhere...Even my keys were in it and of course a sponsorship card from the Irish Cancer Society which had my address on it.

"So I couldn't really sleep last night until I got the locks changed this morning.

"It's just where they are in the wallet. Where they are in the wallet, they do get stuck in the corners in the zip card.

"I really hoped they just opened it, saw there was no cash and if they took the cards that's fine, and then threw it away."

She added: "It's a plain green wallet. It's leather but it's Penneys plasticy leather, it's not expensive at all."

Jane also revealed that her friend also had money, school notes and prescription glasses taken.

She is now hoping her public appeal will help find her rings.
