Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau touches down in Dublin for Irish visit

Mr Trudeau and his family were greeted by the Canadian Ambassador to Ireland Kevin Vickers in Dublin Airport last night.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau touched down in Dublin last night for his state visit to Ireland.

Mr Trudeau is the first international state visitor during Taoiseach Leo Varadkar's spell as Taoiseach.

The Taoiseach will meet the Canadian leader this morning in Farmleigh, Co Dublin.

He is also expected to meet President Michael D. Higgins as part of his visit.

Mr Trudeau and his family were greeted by the Canadian Ambassador to Ireland Kevin Vickers in Dublin Airport last night.

Minister Ciaran Cannon was also on hand to welcome the World leader to Irish shores.

Irish foreign Ministry tweeted: "Minister Ciaran Cannon welcomes Canadian PM Justin Trudeau & Mme Sophie Grégoire Trudeau to Ireland this evening."
