Multiple flights were diverted from Dublin Airport overnight due to severe fog.

The major travel disruption was reported after 11pm last night.

Several Dublin-bound flights were diverted to Shannon and Belfast due to the adverse weather conditions.

The @airlivenet Twitter account first reported the travel disruption last night.

AIRLIVE posted online: "ALERT All flights inbound Dublin are diverting due to fog, no CAT III available."

It is understood there is a knock-on effect this morning as aircrafts scheduled for servicing were forced to remain at other airports overnight.
