Fáilte Ireland’s Dublin Convention Bureau has won €46million worth of new business for Dublin in 2017 - writes dublinlive.ie.
At the organisation's mid-year review at the Gibson Hotel this morning, they revealed that revenue was boost by winning 100 new conferences for the city and county over the last few months.
The number of events, which are set to take place between 2017 and 2020, will bring almost 30,000 international delegates to the capital.
Manager of Fáilte Ireland’s Dublin Convention Bureau, Sam Johnston said: “Our focus for the remainder of the year will be to deliver €63m of new business to Dublin by attracting more international conferences, events and incentive organisations to choose Ireland as their next destination.
"We are putting greater emphasis on widening out the season so that events can capitalise on quieter parts of the tourism season.
"As we look to 2018 and beyond, we plan to introduce a ten year strategy for the growth of Ireland’s business tourism sector that will double the value to the local economy in that timeframe.”One of the biggest events coming to Dublin will be the World Con in 2019, which is expected to bring €8million to the economy alone.
