Outrage as heartless vandals wreak havoc in Swords playground

It appeared cans were strewn across the ground after part of the children's play area was melted away.

These shocking images show the damage done to a playground by heartless vandals overnight - writes dublinlive.ie.

Extensive damage was done to Thornleigh playground off Main Street Applewood late on Saturday in Swords .

The images show what appear to be beer cans dumped underneath a huge hole in part of a tube in the children's play area.

It is believed the damage was done after a fire was lit and melted away part of the tunnel.

The Glen Ellan and Sandford Wood Residents Association posted the images on Facebook and asked anyone with information to contact Swords Garda Station or Fingal County Council .

The residents association said: "Sometime Sat Eve/night Thornleigh playground vandalised.

"Our nearest playground off Main St. Applewood.

"Any info to Swords Gardai 6664700 or Fingal Operations Unit Fingal County Council "
