Meanwhile, players are being urged to buy their EuroMillions tickets early for tomorrow’s €35million draw.

A spokesperson said: “Just like the Irish soccer team, Irish EuroMillions players are continuing to get the right results in Europe!"

She added: “So far this year 28 lucky players have won the €500,000 EuroMillions Plus top prize - breaking the previous record of 27 winners which was set in 2009.

“Tuesday could be a defining event in the history of Irish sport – but also for our EuroMillions players.

“We advise them to buy their tickets early in-store, online at lottery.ie or via the National Lottery App to be in with a chance to win this life-changing prize.”
