Dublin Bus, Luas and Dart fares increase from December 1

Earlier this year the National Transport Authority revealed new fare structures.

Commuters in the capital are set to feel the pinch tomorrow as Dublin Bus , DART and Luas increase their fares.

Cash fares on mid-range Dublin Bus journeys will increase from €2.70 to €2.85, while mid-range Leap fares will see an increase from €2.05 to €2.15.

Cash on stage one to three journeys will also increase from €2.00 to €2.10, but the Leap fare will not change.

Xpresso cash fares will jump from €3.60 to €3.65 while the Leap price will also see a rise of 5c from €2.85 to €2.90.

Dublin Bus city centre fares will be abolished from January 31, 2018.

Luas cash fares will increase on stage one from €2.00 to €2.10, stage two will change from €2.40 to €2.50, while stages three and four will jump by €2.90 to €3.00.

Leap fares on the tram only sees changes on stages two, three and four.

Stage two prices rise from €1.85 to €1.94, while stages three and four jump from €2.24 to €2.27.

A range of Iarnród Éireann fares will increase by an average of 1.2 percent, however, a number of fare types will remain the same or decrease.

DART fares day fares will increase from €11.70 to €12.

It means that monthly Leap Card prices will now be pricier than the monthly price of an Oyster Card, a similar transport card used in London.

Meanwhile, under fives will be able to travel for free on subsidised public transport, including all DART, Commuter and Intercity lines, Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann.
