Brazilian beauty hopes to put Ireland on the world stage by winning bikini comp

Luci says she wants to show the world how diverse Dublin really is.

A Brazilian girl who's been living in Dublin for the past four years says she wants to be crowned Miss Bikini Ireland so she can bring diversity to the Irish modeling scene -writes

The beauty will represent Dublin at the Miss Bikini Ireland competition, which takes place on Friday night at the Red Cow Hotel in West Dublin.

Luci Vidal, 29, who lives in Drumcondra, said she loves her adopted country even if she has struggled to find work as a model.

"I signed for this competition because I don't see much diversity in Irish television, or in the magazines you get here," Luci told Dublin Live.

"I used to get lots of work in Brazil - modelling work, TV work and lots of dancing work - and I loved it.

"When I just came here I tried to get work with different agencies, and it didn't really happen for me.

"I don't know why it didn't happen for me here. Maybe it was because not I'm not Irish, or if I didn't have the look that agencies want here.

"On the street in Dublin, I often see beautiful, diverse girls, but I don't really see that in your models, in your magazines, you know?"

Luci now works for Brown Thomas on Grafton St, and says she couldn't be happier with life in Dublin.

She said that around the same time that she came to Dublin, she decided to shave her hair so that it would grow back naturally.

Luci explained: "I used to always wear my hair straight. A lot of girls do that in Brazil, and I had kept mine straight from the age of around 12.

"But then, when I came here to Ireland, I decided to be myself, be natural, so I cut off my hair so that it would grow back the way it should look.

"And I believe it has helped me to accept my true self. So I thank Dublin for that. It's my home now, and I'm proud to be a Dub!

"I live here. My life is here, I never want to live anywhere else. So I want to represent Ireland on the world stage. And if I do, I'll be sending out a message that Ireland is as diverse as anywhere."

The Miss Bikini Ireland winner will go on to represent Ireland in Swimsuit USA International next year, and Luci has her fingers crossed she'll be the girl to do just that.

She added: "I'd be so proud to represent Ireland on the world stage. I love to travel, but most of all, I love coming back to Dublin whenever I go abroad."
