Gardai seize drugs worth €30,000 from car in Dun Laoghaire

The find was made at around midnight last night.

Gardai in Dublin have seized drugs with a potential street value of €30,000 after searching a car in the south east of the city.

Members of the Dun Laoghaire Divisional Drugs Unit seized a quantity of MDMA - the main psychoactive ingredient in ecstasy - after stopping and searching a car at Kill Avenue shortly before midnight - writes dublinlive.ie.

A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and was taken to Dun Laoghaire Garda Station, where he was detained for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

He has since been released, and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions and the drugs have been forwarded for analysis.

A Garda spokesman said that investigations into the seizure ongoing.
