The Met Eireann forecaster said: "Mainly dry and sunny today but fog will linger in places and it will become rather cloudy and dull later.
"Temperatures between 5 and 7 degrees but lower where fog lingers. Winds will be light southerly.Met Eireann have issued a status orange weather warning for Dublin with dense fog across the county this morning.
The warning is valid for the entire country with fog affecting visibility on many roads this morning and throughout the day.
A forecaster said: "Dense fog may linger in some parts of the country through much of Monday giving rise to poor visibility and hazardous driving conditions."
"Staying dry overnight, but dull with mist and fog once again. Temperatures will rise overnight to between 10 and 12 degrees and winds will be light to moderate southerly.
"Tomorrow, Tuesday, will once again be mainly dry but dull to start. Cloud will thin out during the afternoon to give brighter spells for a time.
