Don't drink and drive.
It's Christmas and naturally people around the country are having a few alcoholic beverages.
With public transport off for the day everyone still needs to get around the place by car or taxi - writes dublinlive.ie.
However if you are drinking you should not get behind the wheel of a car and take unnecessary risks.
If you had a drink or two and are wondering if you are fit to drive, here are the limits so you know when you're not fit to drive.
What is the alcohol limit?
For learner drivers and newly qualified drivers the limit begins at 20mg of alcohol.
This rises to 50mg for all other drivers.
So how much is too much?
It takes an hour for the effects of half a pint (or a glass of wine) to wear off.
Naturally spirits have an even higher alcohol percentage and take longer to wear off.
People are always advised to stay off the roads if they have had a drink.
What about the day after?
Even the next day alcohol could still be in your system so don't take to the road after a heavy night out.
The more you drink the longer it takes to wear off so all drivers should judge by how much they drank.
