A BMW mounted the footpath and drove at speed towards a group of kids - blasting the schoolboy into the air over the bonnet - writes dublinlive.ie.
The car drove off before Gardai arrived.
Gardai have downloaded CCTV footage of the incident and are, according to sources, following a definite line of enquiry.
The Garda Press Office confirmed that Gardai seized a car suspected to have been involved in the incident, however, would not comment if any one was interviewed.
A statement read: "A vehicle has been seized under Section seven of the Criminal Justice Act 2006 in relation to this incident. No arrests or charges have been made at this time."
The section of law quoted permits gardai to seize anything that they suspect to be involved in the commission of an offence.
Gardai also have the power to compel the owner of the car to identify the driver of the vehicle on a given day.
A source said that gardai have identified a suspect but are having difficulty tracking down the man.
A source said: "They have nominated a man who they wish to talk to - it is understood that this person lives in the Finglas area of Dublin."
"This person is Irish but is nomadic in his movements and hasn't been spotted by gardai. There were efforts to arrest him but he has not been seen by officers since the incident."
It's feared the suspect could have left the country but investigators are confident they will track him down.
Meanwhile the young lad involved in the incident is on the way to making a full recovery.
It is understood that he's from the Leixlip area of Co Kildare, a short distance from Blanch.
Following the incident brave trainee mental health nurse Rebecca Wade spoke to Dublin Live about the incident.
She said: "I was sitting in Starbucks, the window was completely open and a car suddenly came up that path from the Leisureplex. He was moving fast - it looked like he was moving at about 50 kilometres per hour. He really sped up.
"The kids just dispersed everywhere. I went running for the door and got outside and the Starbucks as people locked the doors."
"I left myself out, I wanted to help because I am a nurse. The car turned around and shouted 'I'll kill you all'. He got back into the car and went back at the group again. One boy was hit and he went over the bonnet."
