Irish Rail passengers were delayed this evening in Dublin due to a fire on the tracks that was started by vandals.

The 17.17 Dublin to Sligo train headed back to Connolly after being stuck in Drumcondra , affecting passengers that were looking to go to Mullingar and Maynooth.
One passenger told Dublin Live that they were told that there was a fire after the train stopped near the Drumcondra station. Following the announcement, they were then informed that they were being sent back to Connolly.
They arrived back into the station just before 6pm this evening.
It then headed back out before 7pm, after passengers were told that a fire on the tracks was caused by vandals.
Customers had shared their confusion surrounding the service.
One said: "Can you please provide a clear update for passengers stranded at Drumcondra Station looking to get to Mullingar and Maynooth, nobody at the station and there appears to be a fire."
While another added: "Any update on delays into Drumcondra?"
Irish Rail have been contacted for comment.
