Thankfully no members of the crew were injured in the incident.
Dublin Fire Brigade engine taken out of service after window damaged in attack
But Dublin Fire Brigade have reminded the public that while the majority of people would never cause issue, it is only with the help of the wider community that such attacks by thugs can be stopped.
Dublin Fire Brigade said: "One of our Dolphin's Barn based Fire Engines is currently unavailable due to damage sustained after an attack on it.
"This is not representative of the vast majority of people we serve however attacks can only be stopped with the help of the wider community. No injuries to crew."
Last night, Dublin Fire Brigade rushed to the scene of a chip pan fire on Emmet Road after receiving a call at around 7pm last night.
Following the incident, a spokesman told Dublin Live: "Our big ask is for people to take care with chip pans."
